Signed by Eduoard Rischgitz who was a French painter employed at Minton circa 1864-70. He was known for painting animals and landscapes on majolica in a manner resembling that of Emile Lessore. This piece was originally a table top but now hangs as a large 25 inch plaque. The hardware for the table is still attached at the back. The edging around the table is in a green and yellow "Corn Husk" design with a blue and yellow rim. The piece is not stamped by Minton, but is Majolica with the typical Minton blue covering the entire back of the plaque. Rischgitz worked for Minton between 1864-1870 then worked for Copeland Spode 1870-1891. The front is signed Eduoard Rischgitz. Rischgitz lived from 1828-1908. This piece is quite heavy. Measures: 25 inches diameter x 2 inches high. Overall Excellent condition - 1 professional repair done before 1967 to lower left bottom where a small section was off and put back. You can still see a faint line of the repair when you look very closely. I've shown a comparison in the last 3 photos where I have drawn a Photoshop Line in the last photo. This piece was purchased by the original owner from an antique store in 1967, so the repair was done before that time. Everything else is perfect. You really do not notice the repair unless you look closely.
