Description
GEORGE JONES Majolica Pitcher RUSTIC FLORAL AND FROGS DescriptionBeautifully decorated signed George Jones majolica pitcher. Shaped to resemble a tree trunk with a tree branch handle, floral decoration and four frogs in the grass at the base. This is a larger pitcher measuring approximately 7.75 inches high, 6.75 inches in diameter at the base, and 8.5 inches across from spout to handle. The condition and colors are excellent. There was a professional restoration to the rim in 3 areas - one near the spout and two along the sides. There are two firing cracks, both underneath the glaze - one crosses the "knot" on the front of the pitcher and one is on the handle. None of this detracts from the beauty of this rare piece. I was limited to 24 photos above so I added more below including close-ups of the restored area.From what I have seen, this model tends to sell for around $3000 at on-site Majolica specialty auctions.
