Description
Nice Old Art Pottery Vase stands 12" high...it has a mouth diameter of 5 1/2" and is approximately 8 1/2" across at its fullest. The glaze color is a beautiful matte green. The bottom has areas that aren't glazed and they show a red color clay...there are also some areas where this shows through on the body of the pot, (but not as dramatic a showing as my pictures may show). You can see the hand thrown marks on the inside of the pot and also on the outside of the pot. There is one "glaze flake" on the rim, not really a chip...I think it was there when the piece was created. On the underside bottom, there is a depressed area on the edge, again, not really a chip, more of a flaw and does not shown when the vase is sitting. There are two blown bubbles on one side of the pot, near the base. The only mark I can find is an impressed J on the bottom. From the color of the clay, perhaps this is from the Ohio area? Really great looking piece with an impressive presence. Nice for an Arts & Crafts, Country or Mission room. On Nov-27-08 at 07:24:33 PST, seller added the following information:I've learned that this is a Zanesville Pottery Piece. Thanks!
