This piece was quite expensive as well, but I bought it based on what I could see was special artistic ability. It measures about 13" in height, and is haunting to look at, as the eyes and face express human emotion. The piece is mostly unglazed, with some color added around the mouth and chin, and also the forehead. There are tool marks everywhere, purposefully left visible. The condition is superb- there are no missing parts or scrapes, just a few tiny flakes along the base that are not noticeable and one eyelid has a nick in it. It is placed in such a way that it could possibly be intended, but I am not sure. There is a spot of blue-green glaze on the top of the scalp that I believe may be an artist's cipher. The talent of the person who executed the piece is unquestionable as one looks over this bust- it is so realistic and yet has a sense minimalism to it, in the way it is executed- no wasted movements or excess decoration. It is unsigned as was another bust that recently came up at auction, which was attributed to Workman and sold for over one thousand dollars.
