Description
Attributed to O. F. Egginton, of Corning, N. Y., who almost certainly produced this magnificet specimen of America's best Brilliant Cut Glass craftsmen between 1896-1918.  The blank is wonderfully clear and flawless.  Both handles are perfectly attached.  There are no excuses to be made for this museum level quality vase that will grace your table or cabinet.  This form of vase, two handled and bulbous, is seldom seen in auctions, much less EBay, and is from my personal collection.  The pattern consists of marvelous light refracting notching, fields of cane  and large 24 point hobstars.  The base is 4 1/2" and has the same hobstar as the sides, consistent with quality  pieces. I think this is a variation of Eggington's Cambria Pattern as shown in the last photo.  The weight is almost six and one half pounds of Cut Glass, 10" high and 7 1/2" wide at the handles. Oliver Egginton was the manager of the cutting department, and later a partner, at Hawkes Cut Glass.  Starting his own business at an advanced age, Oliver wanted his sons to have their own shop, which they did till the end of the Brilliant Period.  Their blanks were purchased from the Corning Glass Works.  You will be proud to own this dazzling piece of American History - and Christmas is just around the corner!  Offered by a proud member of the American Cut Glass Association who abides by all their ethics and standards.
