The deck has not been used for over 8 years and he rarely played it in the since the 80s. The deck has what looks to be genuine walnut veneer on the top and sides and brushed stainless steel on the front panel. It measures approximately 10 ½” high x 20 ½” wide x 5 ¼” deep, not counting the control knobs, or the ½” high feet. The cassette deck weighs approximately 28 pounds before the extensive packing and boxing that will be required.I have shipped several of his other stereo items including another Nakamichi tape deck, three pair of speakers (2 were large floor standing type that took up a good portion of our living room) a receiver, amplifier and pre-amp and the bidders all sent good feedback on how well the items were packed.(The amplifier was sent to France and arrived in perfect condition!) Condition:I tried to show the damage to the walnut veneer on rear corner at the top of the unit that occurred when Stacie, our cat, climbed on top of wall unit and then jumped down to the lower stereo cabinet and landed on the tape deck knocking it over in 1982.It did not affect the working of the deck, but the cat disappeared shortly thereafter. Although I am not knowledgeable on Stereo equipment, I would rate the condition as “Good”.The cassette deck needs to be adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing as I played 3 old cassette tapes and the sound through a receiver and his 2500 JBL speakers sounded good, but the tapes became unwound after 20 or 30 seconds. The cause could be in the tapes that haven’t been used in a decade or more, or the tape deck.I believe I have priced it fairly considering its condition. The controls all function. The two meters on the front light up and the needles and the tape counter move when the tape is played. My husband said that he only used the deck for playback of cassettes and never recorded with it so I can’t tell how it functions in the record mode. I am including the “patch cords” that hook the tape deck to the receiver. There is only one set of cords, so another would need to be bought at a stereo shop or Radio Shack to use in the record mode. Please see my other auctions where I will be listing my husband’s Pioneer TX-6500 II Stereo AM/FM tuner, Pioneer TVX 9500 Television Sound Tuner and Technics SB CR33 Speakers. Will get these items listed on Wednesday. ----------------------------------------------------- BUYER TO PAY calculated shipping. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM SO PLEASE DON’T BID.
