Truly Magnificent Orrefors Ariel Dove Dark Blue Glass Bowl by Edvin Ohrstrom Truly magnificent Orrefors Ariel dark blue glass bowl cased in clear glass. This superb piece is entitled "The Dove". It was hand-blown by the noted Swedish artist, Edvin Ohrstrom (1906-1994) for Orrefors. Underside is signed "ORREFORS Ariel Nr. 501-E6 Edvin Orhrstrom". The piece is internally decorated in the Ariel technique, depicting a beautiful peace dove as well as floral and geometrical ornaments. It is in excellent condition with no visible flaws. Highly sought after by collectors. Karl Edvin Ohstrom designed glass at Orrefors for 2 months each year from 1936 - 1958. He developed the Ariel techinque at Orrefors in 1937, with Lindstrand and Berqkvist, in which controlled air bubbles produce the design (trapped in cut-out patterns between layers of thick glass) Measurements : Marks : Height: 10.6cm. / 4.173in.
