RARE OLD CATALINA ISLAND SET OF 4 PAVERS BLACK STAR Start Price USD 799.00 Current Price USD 799.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, November 04, 2008 End Time Thursday, December 04, 2008 Location Southern California See more about 'RARE OLD CATALINA ISLAND SET OF 4 PAVERS BLACK STAR ' Description Each of these beautiful old Catalina terracotta pavers or tiles measures 9.5 inches long by 7.5 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall.  These are made from brown clay and are unmarked.  These pavers are old and are in remarkably good shape considering that they were found in a corner of a backyard in an estate in the Redlands.  They have not been cleaned and are in the condition that I found them in.   Two of the Catalina pavers are in better shape than the other two.  One paver has missing black glaze on two of the five prongs of its star pattern.  One paver has missing black glaze on the bottom of the smallest star prong.  The black glaze is missing on a corner edge of the third paver.  The glaze on the fourth paver is in great shape.  Some of the pavers are in better shape than the other, as some edges are more worn than other edges of the pavers.    One of the only pictures showing the star configuration can be found in “Catalina Tile of the Magic Isle” by Lee Rosenthal (1992), page 23.  This picture shows the exact same star pattern in seafoam green.  It however happens to be in the tile floor of Philip K Wrigley’s residence on Avalon.  To say that these are rare as found in a complete set is probably an understatement, since I have never seen another set before in my twenty years of collecting Catalina pottery, tiles and pavers.  We will guarantee their authenticity that these are original Catalina pavers and not reproductions.      Winning bidder will be required to pay USPS priority shipping, insurance and tracking fees.  Payment due within three days of end of auction.  Item(s) will be sent within a couple of days after receipt of PayPal payment.  Please ask all your questions before bidding.  I pride myself on being as thorough as possible and may have overlooked something you consider important.  Therefore, if you have any question, please feel free to contact me.  I usually respond within a day.  Item(s) are sold “AS IS” and will not be mint unless so described.  I try to describe the wear and tear as best I can, and hope that if there is an issue you consider important, please email me before bidding.   BUY TODAY!!!
