This is a pair of extremely rare & very large (pottery alone is 13") Rookwood Coromandel glaze lamps and you are buying them for less than $1,500.00 for each. Coromandel, unlike Tiger Eyes, is a red tinted, gloss, adventurine glaze incorporating flecks of gold covering an object with a decoration carved in relief or created in the mold; often the muberry red color will lighten to orange at various parts of the vessel. When the glaze alone is the decoration, it can be assumed that the glazer is, in effect, the decorator. He or she sprays the glaze onto the vessel with an airbrush or dips the object into a vat of glaze. These lamps are embossed with fruits and flowers, and mounted in their original bronzed fittings. Both pottery vases are in excellent condition free from chip/crack/hairline/repair with only minimum scratches. Hardwares have normal aging signs. Marks on bottom: Rookwood flame mark to base/XXXIV/2997; marks to fitting Crest 1617/Pat.1427/A 7 3 1/2. Please disregard the lighting glares (the white spots). Winner agrees to pay for shipping costs of $100.00 PLUS insurance as these are large & heavy pieces. We will ship in TWO boxes and insure each piece/box for $1,500.00. Hardware will be taken off pottery and packed separately to avoid demaging the pottery in transit as recommended by the packing company.
