For its early date, this rare 1905 Van Briggle vase has an unusual mustard color glaze. The vase is design number 373 and has a plain finish. The vase is approximately 4.3” tall and 3.3” in diameter. The thick glaze obscures the Van Briggle markings and date. Visible is the Van Briggle logo, the words “--N BRIG--“ and “--LO. SPRIN--“ and the date “190-” . The glaze covers the last number of the date, however, this particular pattern number “373” was designed in 1905 according to Newton’s “Catalogue of Van Briggle Designs,” and the clay is consistent with the clay of the 1905 date period. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
