Description
For sale today is a huge American Art Pottery Vessel attributed to well known studio potter and artist Robert Schellin. This piece was found in Milwaukee, WI and was originally a lamp. The attribution is from the form and the particular style of the top opening which is typical of his pieces. Please see the last two pictures for an identified piece offered by Gary John Gresl Fine Art and Antiques. Robert Schellin (1910-1985) was born in Akron, Ohio. He studied with Frederic Taubes, Gustave Moeller and Hans Hoffman. He spent time working for the WPA and later taught at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee from 1945-75. He is better known for his painting and is a listed artist. His ceramic work is relatively rare. This a huge piece measuring 20 1/2" tall with absolutely no problems. It is intended to be a lamp, but displays better unmounted. An impressive piece of American Studio Pottery. Thanks for looking and please see my other auctions for other choice pieces from my collection.Shipping and handling in USA is FREE through USPS with insurance and conformation delivery. Any questions will be promptly answered. Happy Ebaying!
