Description
Now you can purchase a cost effective complete solar power system for your off-grid remote home or cabin. This package consists of 1) a used set of 16 (3/2004 or later manufacture date) C&D UPS12-370FR Industrial AGM Sealed Batteries (read section on how each battery tested to assure quality product) 2) 540 watts of 9 new kaneka 60 watt Solar panels 3) 1 new Xantrex DR2424 2.4 kw 120vac 24vdc modified sine wave inverter with built-in 70 amp battery charger and 30 amp transfer switch 4)1 new BZ Products 500 watt MPPT charge controller 5)1 used and good Buss Telpower 200 Amp DC fuse. That is all that is being sold in this auction. This system is sized and designed to power a remote home that is lived in part-time. If you are looking for a full-time home package, I have other auctions for that need. You will need to provide battery connectors, solar panel mounts (you can mount direct to the roof), and all wiring for solar panels, inverter and battery bank. Get complete details of each item in following description sections. With this set you should be able to run a well equipped part-time solar home, a generator would be used for backup power. This system will run lights, fans, microwave, computers, LCD TVs, shallow water pump, small compressors, normal solar home appliances, etc. In a normal remote solar home all heating and cooking would be with wood or propane, a refrigerator would be super high efficiency (see my catalog) or would run on propane. When you leave after the extended weekend, the power would be turned off and the solar panels would recharge everything during the week you are gone. For a longer runtime with large power draw equipment or in high overcast area an additonal battery bank would be the first addition I would make. For all buyers I will include the manual "Photovoltaics Design and Installation Manual" and my Store Catalog, that I sell in my store as part of the shipment. If you are uncertain about what you need, you should consider my site analysis package that I list in my ebay store. This will provide a recommendation of the best system to meet your needs, the expected power output, best mounting system and easiest way to connect system. To see the other type of batteries and complete packages I have for sale go to my Ebay Store: SolarEnergyQuest by clicking on the store icon next to my seller name. Battery Pack: These batteries were in denver and were online for just over 4 years. Denver has very stable power so the cells were hardly cycled, it shows in their test results. All the batteries test excellent with the Midtronics tester (see explaination below) and that is confirmed by their voltage and load meter tests. A random sampling of these batteries tested from 90-105% of the reference value, truly excellent condition. Note that each battery is tested with that unit prior to shipment. These are the same brand and size of batteries that I installed in my own off-the-grid home. The solar items and the batteries will be shipped separately due to freight pricing considerations. Note that I reserve the right to substitute with similar technology and date batteries since my stock of used and tested batteries is continually sold and replaced. Regardless with any substitutions, it will only occur if I am out of the described batteries and the replacement batteries will provide at least the same total AH (amp-hrs) as this package. This battery back consists of a premium 10 year design life set of sealed AGM batteries made by C&D Technologies they deliver 85 AH each (10 hr rate to 1.80v). This bank can produce 680AH at 24 volts, the voltage required for the inverters. THIS IS A POWERFUL BATTERY BANK THAT WAS ONLINE FOR 1/3 OF ITS DESIGN LIFE. This is a moderately sized bank that can supply the needs of a remote home or cabin during a couple of cloudy days. These batteries meet the non-hazardous shipping classification of non-spillable. Each battery is 12 volts, produces 370 watts/cell (each battery has 6 2-volt cell, just like your 12 volt car battery) and weighs 76 lb each and you are getting 16 of these batteries. These batteries sell new from discounters for $375 each, so you are getting a total value of over $6000 for the batteries alone. These batteries were tested and all had carried at least 12.80 up to 13.00 volts. They are all were also tested with a Midtronics Celltron (www.midtronics.com) industrial battery tester (approved IEEE testing method) and all tested in excellent condition. These batteries can be wired in series and parallel to deliver 24 volt power that your inverter requires. That flexibility makes them perfect for these Solar Inverters. I have additional sets of these batteries, make your home a standalone, utility free zone. These batteries can be connected together using inexpensive copper water pipe that has been cut to the proper length and drilled at proper terminal spacing and has two additional holes for connecting the inverter terminals, that is a cost effective way of making buss bars to interconnect the batteriesHere you can download the technical specifications that apply to this batteryhttp://www.cdstandbypower.com/product/battery/vrla/pdf/12_370.pdfSolar Panels: Kaneka is a Japanese solar manufacturing company that has developed high quality amorphous solar panels that provide very cost effective power. Each panel produce 60 watts of very reliable solar power and are one of the better choices for hot climates since they maintain high power output even in hot weather. The Solar panels are covered by a 25 year, 80% power output warranty and a 5 year manufacturer's material and defects warranty. These panels are well suited for roof mount or ground mount so you have lots of options. This package consists of 9 of their GSA060 60 watt solar panels, of course each panel contains a bypass diode. Specification are as follows:Nominal power output: 60 WShort Circuit Current (A): 1.19 amps DCOpen Circuit Voltage (V): 91.8 VDCMax Power Voltage: 67.0 Volts DCMax Power Current: .90 AmpsSize: 37.7" x 38.98" x 1.57" with Aluminum frame and backingWeight: 30.2 lbsGet complete information on these panels at http://www.pv.kaneka.co.jp/products/index.htmlInverter: This package is designed to meet the power requirements of a remote off-grid solar powered home or remote solar powered cabin. This Xantrex DR2424 inverter takes the 24 Volt DC from the batteries and solar panels and convert it to 120 VAC (if you later need 220 power, two units can be stacked to produce 120/240 VAC power). The inverter has a built-in 30 amp transfer switch and a 70 amp adjustable battery charger. With the transfer switch you can hook a generator to the transfer master and when you start the generator the inverter automatically switches to the generator for power rather than the batteries. With the generator turned on the inverter begins charging the batteries. You can then run the generator for several hours to give you additional days of battery power running time in winter cloudy days.Inverters come in two common technologies, Pure Sine Wave and Modified Sine Wave. Pure sine wave is required if you are doing a grid-tie system, but modified sine wave works for almost all electronics. My cabin has had a modified sine wave inverter (the U2412) from Xantrex (Trace) for 18 years and it is still running fine and everything at the cabin works just fine with it. So for this package i am recommending a modified sine wave inverter. 2.4 KW Specifications:Output Power Capacity: 2400 WattsStarting 5 Sec. Surge Power: 6200 WattsNominal Output Voltage: 120V RMSEfficiency at full Load: 95%Waveform: Modified Sine WaveShort Circuit and Overload protectionSize: height=8.5" width=7.25" depth=22"Weight=40 lbsWarranty 2 yearSee the complete specifications on these inverters here: http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/57/p/199/pt/1/product.aspCharge Controller and other items: This package includes a BZ Products MPPT500 (maximum power point tracking) charge controller rated 500 watts that will handle 20 amps at 24 volts. This charge controller works for 24 volt battery banks. The units has an LCD display that shows amp and volts for the system, has an included battery temperature sensor and uses MPPT charge control technology. The unit has been setup to run with this system, so just wire it in.Also included is a 200 Amp DC fuse to be mounted at the battery bank connection from the inverter. You will need to provide the battery disconnect switch.Solar System: This package is a great for solar powered (solar, wind, hydro) part-time home or cabin. The batteries are premium quality designs that will provide a long life when used properly. The batteries are very long life batteries (10 year design-life) and designed for power supply usage such as remote homes, computer centers or grid tie solar systems. If your power requirements have large peak loads, then it may be appropriate to purchase additional sets of batteries so the battery pack is not deeply discharged, especially with extended stays. Your actual power usage will determine what is adequate for your needs, this package is designed as a general package to meet common systems. As with any deep discharge battery the lower the depth of discharge the less total cycles the battery will do, so buy enough batteries and solar panel so that you don't have to deeply discharge the batteries. The battery charge can be maintained by several different options that can all work together.1 Solar Panels set up to deliver 24 volts along with a charge controller designed to work with sealed AGM Gel batteries2 Hydro power, one of the best systems since the power output is continous charging the battery 24/7. Again this requires 24 volt for your system voltage output with a charge controller3 Wind power, If you have a reliable wind source is works great because of high power output with the proper controller4 AC Generator or Power Connection, used to power the house in case you are not generating power from solar or wind for a period of time. These are totally sealed so they can be installed with no outside venting, no storage box, check your local codes to determine if that is allowed in your area.Solar Energy Rebates: This system of batteries can be part of a solar energy system the could qualify for both state and federal (as of 1/1/2006) renewable energy rebates. REMEMBER YOU WILL NEED TO ACT QUICKLY BECAUSE THE FEDERAL REBATES ARE SET TO EXPIRE AT THE END OF 2008, THE SYSTEM MUST BE INSTALLED AND OPERATING BEFORE THEN. Please get more information here http://www.seia.org/manualdownload.php , CHECK WITH YOUR STATE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS FOR A REMOTE HOME SOME STATES PAY FOR SYSTEMS EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE GRID!!!!Battery Testing: All batteries are tested for voltage and load before shipment to assure we are shipping a quality product. Before being shipped, batteries are tested with a Midtronics Celltron Ultra Stationary Battery Tester (www.midtronics.com). This unit is a $6000 professional battery tester designed to test 2v-16v industrial batteries sized from 20 AH to 4000 AH. It was designed to test batteries that are still part of an active battery bank (it also tests disconnected batteries, that is the easy test). It measures the conductance of the individual cells (2 volt cells) or the entire battery and compares those measured conductances with a database of batteries that have measurements for. For other batteries that are not in the database, testing of a large group of the same batteries is used to develop a good cell number. If batteries test from 90-100% of the reference number they are considered in excellent condition. If the batteries are no longer online, then the battery is considered good from 70 to 80% of the reference number. For batteries that are 60% or below, the are considered at risk and should be replaced. All of the batteries I sell test excellent unless specifically set forth in the listing. That is the best test method available in the battery industry and midtronics is considered the leading battery tester. How Much Power: Since I have no idea of your actual power usage, this package is designed to meet general usage guidelines, your actual solar access, usage and power requirements may require a slightly modified package. I will happly provide a custom package once you have determined your power requirements throughout an average day (the worksheets in my catalog [for sale in my ebay store] will provide all the information need for me to make better sizing estimates). The more batteries you have in your system the less the depth of discharge and the longer the battery life. In my own cabin, I had l-16 batteries (these were 5 year warranty life) that are 15 years old and they were still going strong, but I only take them down to 20% DOD, so it has paid me many times over to have installed additional batteries at the start. In November I finally took the L16s offline (they are still good and serve as a backup set) and added 32 of this technology used batteries to my own cabin along with a new charge controller with built in meter. These are such a great system that I am using them on my own cabin. My bank of batteries supplies power for electric lights, propane forced air furnace (80,000 btu), microwave, deep well 220 volt water pump, stereo, computer, compressor (in my garage) and fans.Batteries are shipped 16 to 48 to a pallet so a second set only adds a percentage of the cost of shipping the first 16. Trucking companies generally charge 50-80% of the base battery system shipping cost for an additional set. 32 batteries is the max weight that can be shipped on a single pallet so more than two additional sets will require shipping an additonal pallet as part of a single shipment.Payment: I prefer bank checks, wire transfers, and money orders for payment. If using Paypal payment I will only ship to the delivery address specified in the ship to section of the Paypal payment notification. If not shipping to your confirmed address, I may require additional identity confirmation information. If I don't receive payment in a timely manner I will provide negative feedback. International buyers can pay by wire transfer, unless paypal supports seller protection for buyers from your country and a US seller (Currently 109 countries are supported).Shipping: SINCE THE SOLAR PACKAGE IS DROP SHIPPED FROM CALIFORNIA AND THE BATTERIES FROM DENVER, SHIPPING COST IN THE FREIGHT CALCULATOR IS ONLY APPROXIMATE: I can ship this Solar package and batteries worldwide, quite often international ocean shipping is cheaper than US domestic shipping, check to see. These batteries are sealed nonspillable, nonhazardous, and the solar equipment is palletized so they can be easily shipped via truck, airplane, or ship. The battery sets that you purchase are palletized in groups of 16 or 32. This makes it easy for them to be sent by truck to your location, that is why I list freight as the shipping method. Since the batteries and solar equipment is shipped separately, the shipping calculator will provide only approximate prices. If you are serious email me with your zipcode or international delivery port. If you can have it delivered to a business with a loading dock or you hand unload it at your house from the back of the truck, it will generally save you $100-200 in delivery costs. Local pickup in denver is free for the batteries, but some shipping costs will be added for the solar equipment.Note to Buyers: If you have more than one negative feedback and a low positive feedback number (<90%) don't bid without my approval, or I reserve the right to cancel your bid.THANK YOU FOR BIDDINGsolarenergyquest@gmail.com for questions _gsrx_vers_235 (GS 5.0.2 (235))
